Sam is a trained counsellor and a provisional member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). He has worked in agency, high school, private practice and in counselling education.
In 2017, Sam returned to the tertiary education sector, where he had previously taught English, to work with domestic and international students in student support and student services.
As Student Wellbeing Officer for ATMC NZ, Sam is passionate about supporting students with their life in Auckland, in their work and study goals – from arrival, to graduation and beyond. He also works to promote student wellbeing as a key part of the school’s ethos.
With a Bachelor of Arts, Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Trinity CertTESOL), Graduate Diploma in Theology (GradDipTh) and Bachelor of Counselling (BCouns), Sam is well qualified to provide student support to our student body.
Sam lives on the Hibiscus Coast and loves spending time with his wife and three young children. He also enjoys CrossFit, Olympic lifting, Cuban cigars, Poker (Heads-Up NLH), music, reading and continued learning in his areas of study (counselling, political theory, critical thinking, and game theory).
