The Diploma in Management (Healthcare) Level 7 is a one year programme aimed at those aged 20 and above who are moving into careers in healthcare management and current health professionals working in a management, policy or analysis role who wish to gain advanced knowledge and skills in the management of elder healthcare facilities.
The Diploma in Management (Healthcare) Level 7 programme will enable the progressive development of competencies to enable students to work effectively as managers in contexts relevant to their previous experience and qualifications. The aim of this qualification is to:
- Produce highly-valued and in-demand graduates with national and international appeal, capable of integrating knowledge and skills in applied ways.
- Provide opportunities and capabilities to enable further academic and vocational study.
- Produce graduates who exhibit ethical, responsible and sustainable professional attributes who are aware of the needs of communities including Maori.
- Create opportunities for graduates to develop inquiring, critical, analytical, reflective, and independent modes of thinking as well as explore areas of individual interest.
The students must complete 3 of the 4 following Core units
- Operations, Quality and Risk Management
- Human Resource Management
- Health Services Management
- Support planning for Geriatric and Mental Health conditions
Students must also complete the following compulsory unit
- Related Learning experience – Industry placement
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Discuss the main ideas of complex spoken and written texts including abstract and concrete concepts in healthcare contexts.
- The Students will be able to communicate information verbally with fluency and spontaneity in extended discourse on a range of familiar and unfamiliar healthcare subjects. The New Zealand hospitals are well-equipped with a positive and friendly environment, making it a great place to work.
- Manage healthcare communication interactions in a range of formal and informal settings using appropriate language.
- Discuss Complex healthcare texts both on familiar and unfamiliar topics showing independence.
- Summarise, synthesise and evaluate information and argument from a range of healthcare sources in a crafted, logical and coherent form.
Entry Requirements
A recognised Diploma or Degree in Health, or in aligned discipline in the field of Health, no less than Level 6 or an overseas equivalent.
English Requirements
- New Zealand certificate of English Language, Level 4 or equivalent.
- An IELTS Academic score of 6 overall with no band score lower than 5.5; OR
- TOEFL: PBT 550 (essay 5 TWE) or iBT 80 (writing 21); OR
- Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English.

Requirements | Provide evidence of a minimum of 2 years fulltime work experience (either paid or voluntary) in the medical or health-related field, preferably within elderly care. Such applicants must submit a current CV and copies of two professional references, and undergo a pre-entry interview to establish their sustainability. | ||||
